The Spring Practice
Psychotherapy and Counselling
Hello, my name is Camilla.
I am a humanistic integrative psychotherapist with a background in psychodynamic theory. Put into plain English, this means that I have the skills and experience to help you look at the problematic issues that might be showing up in your life from a variety of different perspectives. Whether you would like to take a deep dive into your early years to look at how current difficulties might be linked to childhood experiences, or are simply seeking to expand self-awareness through talking to a trusted professional, I can help.

I have an advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling as well and a further Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (ongoing). Prior to these, I spent 2 years gaining a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling at Birkbeck in London, and also hold a certificate in Trauma-Informed Therapy.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk), the UK's most recognised professional body for verifying the training and competence of therapists in Britain. I work according to the guidelines of their Ethical Framework, details of which can be accessed via their website.

I understand that accessing therapy, possibly for the first time, can seem like a daunting prospect. My personal opinion is that it is a courageous and worthwhile step to take, and one that can give you a new way of being in the world. So if you are feeling stuck in any way, experiencing low mood or anxiety, your relationships are unsatisfactory, or really there is anything that you feel you would like to be different, get in touch and we can work through it together.

listened to, to be thought about, and to be heard in a private space"
Susie Orbach, psychotherapist
My Approach
The key to successful therapy is the relationship between client and counsellor, and as such I work to create an environment where you will feel listened to, thought about, and treated with respect and kindness. Working together, I will help you look at the things you are struggling with and work through them to a point where you feel more able to cope.

In our first session, we will look at what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. This will very much steer the course through the subsequent weeks and months, as we endeavour to help you find better ways of understanding what drives you and how you can best achieve a more satisfying life experience. As the BACP states on its website, 'Counselling changes lives', and I look forward to helping you change yours.

After you have made the initial contact enquiry, we will schedule a 15/20 minute chat so that you can establish if you would like to go ahead, and also so we can determine if we think we are a good 'fit' to work together. There is no pressure to commit to counselling at this stage - the most important thing is to feel confident that you are doing what is right for you.

I work face-to-face in person, and also online. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, which is something we can discuss during the initial session. There is also the option of 'walk-and-talk' sessions in local woodland once we have established the work, should that be of interest.
